3. Spunbond Production Process Flow
| Step | Process | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Polymer Preparation | PP chips fed into hopper; color masterbatch and additives (antioxidant, anti-pilling, flame retardant, UV stabilizer) dosed by automatic metering system |
| 2 | Melting & Extrusion | Single-screw extruder (L/D = 30:1) melts PP at 180–230°C; melt filtered through 250-mesh dual-column screen changer; metered by gear pump to spinneret |
| 3 | Spinning | Melt passes through spinneret (3,000–5,000 holes/m); continuous filaments extruded under precise pressure (10–20 MPa) |
| 4 | Quenching | Filaments cooled by cross-flow air in quench chamber, solidifying into continuous PP filaments |
| 5 | Drawing | Filaments drawn by high-velocity suction air (negative pressure), reducing denier to target 1.5–2.0 den |
| 6 | Web Forming | Drawn filaments deposited randomly onto forming wire via aerodynamic laydown, creating isotropic nonwoven web |
| 7 | Bonding (Calendering) | Web passes through heated double-roll calender (thermal oil); fibers thermally bonded at embossing points (sesame, diamond, or custom pattern) |
| 8 | Winding & Slitting | Fabric wound onto parent roll (max. Ø 2,000mm); in-line slitting to customer-specified widths; auto splicing for continuous production |

Advantages of PP spunbond non-woven fabrics
1. Lightweight: Polypropylene resin is the main production raw material, with a specific gravity of only 0.9, which is only three-fifths that of cotton. It has fluffiness and a good feel.
2. Soft: Made of fine fibers (2-3D), it is formed by lightweight hot melt bonding. The finished product has moderate softness and a comfortable feeling.
3. Water absorption and breathability: Polypropylene chips do not absorb water, have zero moisture content, and the finished product has good water absorption performance. It is composed of 100% fibers and has porosity, good breathability, and is easy to keep the cloth surface dry and easy to wash.
4. Non toxic and non irritating: The product is produced using FDA compliant food grade raw materials, free from other chemical components, stable in performance, non-toxic, odorless, and non irritating to the skin.
5. Antibacterial and anti chemical agents: Polypropylene is a chemically inert substance that is not infested by insects and can isolate bacteria and insects present in the liquid; Antibacterial, alkaline corrosion, and the strength of the finished product is not affected by erosion.

FAQ
Q: How many spinning beams are there in a spunbond line?
A: Depends on what type you need. There is single (S) beam which means it has 1 set of spinning beams (1 Extruder). Double(SS) beams will have 2 sets of spinning beams (2 Extruders) and Triple (SSS) will have 3 sets of spinning beams(3 Extruders). Triple will be the fastest line to produce up to 450m/min speed and will produce around 23tons/day for a 3200mm width. Triple will consume the most amount of energy and take up the most room as well. If you want to produce heavy weight fabric then Single would be best option and Triple is great for lighter weight fabric that needs to produce high quantities.
Q: Which line should I use for shopping bags?
A: Shopping bags can weigh anywhere from 40gsm-100gsm so a single beam spunbond line would work perfect for you. Single beam can produce 10-200gsm range. Also it will use the least amount of energy (650kwh-800kwh per ton) and takes up less room (length is 15m). Investment for this line starts at $180,000.
Q: Which line should I use for diapers?
A: Diapers and other hygiene products fall under lighter weight fabric (10gsm-30gsm). We recommend using our Triple (SSS) spunbond line because it will produce lighter fabric with more consistent quality. If you want to produce mid quality hygiene products our Double beam (SS) line will be a good fit. Single beam is not recommended for these types of fabrics.
Q: Can I change my line from Single to Double or Triple in the future?
A: Yes all HG Machinery spunbond lines are designed to allow customer to change their line from single to double or triple. Just keep in mind that you will need to make sure you have enough room to fit another spinning beam unit and power.
Q: What's the difference between spunbond and SMS lines?
A: Spunbond lines (Single/Double/Triple beams) will only use spunbond filaments. SMS lines will have a meltblown beam added to it which can be used for medical grade fabrics.
Q: How long does it take to receive my line?
A: Lead time will depend on your configuration. Single beam line will take about 60-90 days to build. Double beam lines take about 90 days. Triple beam line will take 90-120 days. Our engineers can come out to install and commission your line in 45-60 days for single beam lines. 60-70 days for double beam and 70-80 days for triple beam lines.
Q: How much warranty do you provide?
A: Our standard warranty is 12-24 months after commissioning. Some parts may not be covered if they are worn out from normal use such as spinnerets. We will always help you with any issues that may arise after commissioning.
Q: Why use PP as your raw material?
A: PP is known to be very light weight material (lighter than cotton 3/5 of the weight). Because the fiber diameter is smaller (1.5den-2.0den) the hand feel is softer than other polymers. No water absorption allows the fabric to breathe. It is non toxic and will not cause any harm to the human body. Great chemical resistance to bacteria and other corrosive elements. PP is one of the cheapest raw materials you can buy in the world.
Q: Can I produce different colors?
A: Yes .our line comes standard with an automatic metering system that can dose color master batch to create any color. We can also dose different additives to create hydrophilic spunbond, UV protection, fire retardant, static free, bacteria free and alcohol resistant.
